Biography<\/h3><\/div>

The Vienna-born countertenor studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with KS Edith Lienbacher, Gabriele Lechner and KS Robert Holl and graduated with distinction in 2012.<\/p>\n

His engagements have already taken the young singer to La Scala in Milan<\/strong>, the Teatro San Carlo in Lisbon<\/strong>, the Staatsoper Berlin<\/strong>, the Zurich Opera House<\/strong>Y, the Nationaltheater Mannheim<\/strong>, the Royal Danish Opera House<\/strong>, Theater Chemnitz<\/strong>, Landestheater Innsbruck<\/strong>, the Bregenzer Festspiele<\/strong> and the Volksoper Wien<\/strong>. Thomas Lichtenecker has also sung several times at the Kammeroper M\u00fcnchen<\/strong> and at various festivals, such as the Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi, the Tiroler Festpiele in Erl<\/strong>, the Jopera Festival in Jennersdorf<\/strong>, the Kirchenmusikfestival in Retz<\/strong> and the Festival f\u00fcr alte Musik in Regensburg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

His repertoire sung on stage is varied and extensive, ranging from baroque to modern. His most important roles include Satirino in Cavalli's \u201cLa Calisto\u201d, Bradamante in Handel's \u201cAlcina\u201d, Amor and Valetto in Monteverdi's \u201cL'incoronazione di Poppea\u201d, Tenente in Joseph Schuster's \u201cIl marito indolente\u201d, Ernesto in Haydn's \u201cDie Welt auf dem Mond\u201d, Orlofsky in Strauss' \u201cDie Fledermaus\u201d, Pippetto in Donizetti's \u201cLe convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali\u201d, Mother Ute in Oscar Straus' \u201cDie lustigen Nibelungen\u201d, Tisbe in Rossini's \u201cLa Cenerentola\u201d, Miles in Britten's \u201cThe Turn of the Screw\u201d, Clearte in H\u00f6lszky's \u201cHybris\u201d or Un Giovane and Voce lontana in Salvatore Sciarrino's \u201cSuperflumina\u201d.<\/p>\n

His concert and oratorio repertoire is also extensive. The countertenor has already sung the swan in Orff's \u201cCarmina Burana\u201d, the alto role in Pergolesi's \u201cStabat Mater\u201d and the boy solo in Bernstein's \u201cChichester Psalmes\u201d, and his performances have taken him to venues including the Musikverein Vienna<\/strong> and concert halls from Salzburg to Copenhagen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Thomas Lichtenecker has worked with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Maxime Pascal, Ivor Bolton, Paolo Carignani, Roman V\u00e1lek, Jos van Veldhoven, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Julia Jones, J\u00f6rg Straube, Tito Ceccherini, Andreas Sch\u00fcller, Johannes Wildner, Christian Kolonovits, Walter Kobera and Christopher Moulds and has appeared in productions by Claus Guth, Sir David McVicar, J\u00fcrgen Flimm, Martin Kusej, Harry Kupfer, Andrea Schwalbach, Matthias Davids, Robert Meyer, Jetske Mijnssen, Alexandra Liedtke and Dominik Wilgenbus, among others.<\/p>\n

In 2007, the singer was awarded the audience prize and the prize for best Austrian singer at the \u201cFerruccio Tagliavini International Singing Competition\u201d.<\/p>\n
